MONTAUK PUBLIC SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER

A NOTE FROM THE NURSE

TO ALL PARENTS:

THIS IS A REMINDER OF THE SCHOOL HEALTH POLICIES, WHICH ARE IN EFFECT.  Please take a few moments to read them, as the health of your child/ren is important to us.

            1. NO MEDICATION OF ANY KIND MAY BE SENT TO SCHOOL WITH ANY CHILD.  If medication is necessary, you, THE PARENT, must bring the medication to the school and sign the required form.

           2. If your child is sent home ill or with a fever, he/she must remain at home the next day and have a normal temperature for 24 hours, without  medication, before returning to school.

           3. If your child has vomited, either at home or at school, he/she must remain home the next day.  Many parents tend to allow their children to return to school too soon after being ill.

          4. If your child has a heavy cold, with a cough, runny nose, sore throat, or an earache, please keep your child home.  There is close contact in school and they will just spread this illness to classmates and staff.

           5. When your child is going to be absent for a health reason or otherwise, PLEASE CALL THE MAIN OFFICE AT 668-2474 and tell the person who answers the phone that your child will not be here today and the reason why.

PLEASE NOTE:  WEATHER PERMITTING, we do take the children outside for recess, All year long!  Montauk weather seems to change daily. Therefore we ask that you send your child to school prepared.  Even if it “seems” warm in the morning please send your child with at least a sweater/jacket and hat and gloves when necessary.  All children will be sent outside, unless I have a doctor’s note explaining the reason why.  If you feel your child is too sick to go outside, please reevaluate if they should be in school that day.

Thank you for your time and cooperation.
